John Muse
The Checkers reacted quickly after losing Drew MacIntyre in a trade with Chicago by reacquiring John Muse in an AHL deal with the Texas Stars.

Muse, who Charlotte acquired for future considerations, is the club’s all-time leader in wins (54) and games played by a goaltender (107) and is tied for the all-time mark in shutouts (seven). Over parts of the last four seasons, the 27-year-old, who has played for Charlotte on an NHL deal with Carolina, on an AHL deal and on a professional tryout contract during that time, posted a 54-40-5 record along with a 2.66 goals-against average and .916 save percentage.

Muse, who primarily served as MacIntyre’s backup last season, went 9-3-3 with a 3.02 GAA and .904 SV% with the Stars since leaving Charlotte as a free agent last summer.

This marks the second time the Checkers have reacquired Muse, as the native of East Falmouth, MA, also departed as a free agent in the summer of 2013 before rejoining the team on a PTO that fall.

The activity of the NHL’s trade deadline day results in the Checkers carrying a tandem of Daniel Altshuller and Muse into an upcoming six-game home stand that begins this Friday night against Grand Rapids.
