The AHL’s wins leader is headed to the NHL as the Hurricanes have recalled Alex Nedeljkovic from Charlotte.

The netminder is 20-5-2 this season, leading the league in wins and minutes played and ranking fifth in saves. Nedeljkovic has won each of his last five starts, including two shutouts, and has allowed just eight total goals in those contests.

The 23-year-old made his NHL debut last year in relief, stopping all 17 shots he faced in 30 minutes of action. This is the second recall for Nedeljkovic this season as he served as a backup for one game in early December.

With Nedeljkovic heading to Raleigh, the Checkers have recalled Callum Booth from the ECHL’s Reading Royals. Booth, who has played in 10 of the Royal’s last 11 games, is 7-5-1 in the ECHL this season with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. The 21-year-old netminder is 4-1-0 with the Checkers this season and boasts a 1.89 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage in the AHL.

The Hurricanes host Ottawa on Friday before taking off for a three-game road trip through western Canada, while the Checkers wrap up their home stand with a pair of contests against Toronto this weekend.
