Ahead of a busy weekend, the Hurricanes have assigned defenseman Haydn Fleury to Charlotte.

This is the blue liner’s second stint with the Checkers this season after logging one assist in four games in late October. Fleury spent the majority of last season in the NHL, save for a three-game stint with Charlotte, but spent the entirety of his rookie campaign in the AHL, ranking second among Checkers defensemen with 26 points (7g, 19a) in 69 games.

The 22-year-old has one assist in 10 games this season for Carolina but was sidelined for all but two games during the month of December with a concussion.

The Checkers kick off a three-in-three weekend tonight in Belleville.
