Carolina added another forward in free agency Thursday, signing Max McCormick to a one-year, two-way deal.

The 27-year-old is coming off his fifth pro season that saw him post one goal in 14 NHL games with Ottawa and 12 points (7g, 5a) in 20 AHL games with Belleville before being dealt to Colorado, where he recorded eight points (2g, 6a) in 25 games with their AHL squad.

Over his career McCormick, a sixth-round pick by Ottawa in 2011, has accumulated 133 points (63g, 70a) in 279 AHL games with Binghamton, Belleville and Colorado, as well as 10 points (6g, 4a) in 71 NHL games, all with Ottawa.

Prior to turning pro, the Wisconsin native spent three seasons at Ohio State, posting 88 points (36g, 52a) in 104 games and earning a spot on the conference All-Rookie Team in 2011-12.
