With the season opener days away the Checkers have trimmed their roster, assigning three players to the ECHL.

Fairfield Inn and Suites
Forward Steven Lorentz, defenseman Josh Wesley and goalie Jeremy Helvig will all join the Florida Everblades. Both Lorentz and Wesley spent the majority of last season in Florida, with the former recording 35 points in his first pro season and the latter logging 21 games before suffering a season-ending injury. Helvig is set to begin his rookie season with the Everblades.

The Checkers roster currently holds 14 forwards and eight defensemen along with a pair of goalies.

Director of Communications Nicholas Niedzielski joined the Checkers in the summer of 2014. A Texas native, he previously worked for the AHL's Texas Stars.
