Daniel Altshuller
The Checkers made their latest goalie transaction on Thursday by recalling Daniel Altshuller from the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.

Since joining the Everblades from Charlotte when the AHL All-Star break began on Jan. 29, Altshuller, 22, played in Florida’s lone contest – a 5-4 overtime win over Greenville on Wednesday. Altshuller, who made 26 saves in that game, still has not suffered a regulation loss in eight ECHL appearances this season, as he now sports a 6-0-2 record to go along with a 1.96 goals-against average and .924 save percentage. Over the last three seasons, Altshuller has posted a combined 24-7-3 record in the ECHL.

Altshuller, who is 3-3-0 with a 3.03 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in eight Checkers games this season, is expected to form a tandem with Michael Leighton for the team’s trip to Arizona for back-to-back games against Tucson on Friday and Saturday. Rookie Alex Nedeljkovic is also on the team’s roster, though he is currently day-to-day with a lower-body injury suffered just prior to the break.

The recall of Altshuller is the 24th involving a goaltender that the Checkers have made since Eddie Lack first suffered a concussion in Carolina on Nov. 21 – seven of which have involved Altshuller. Since that time, the Checkers have used five different goalies.
