The Checkers have added forward Cason Hohmann to their roster ahead of this weekend’s home set against the Iowa Wild.

Hohmann, 23, joins on a professional tryout contract from the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears, where he scored nine points (4g, 5a) in 12 games to start the season. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound native of Arlington, TX, has three games of AHL experience, having gone scoreless in a brief stint with the Rochester Americans last season.

A product of Boston University, where he scored 92 points (32g, 60a) in 145 games over four seasons, Hohmann spent the majority of last season with Elmira of the ECHL, where he led the team in scoring and ranked third among all ECHL rookies with 57 points (20g, 37a) in 59 outings. Before joining the Checkers on this PTO, he had signed AHL contracts Rochester and Toronto since turning pro.

The upcoming games against Iowa (Saturday at 6 p.m., Sunday at 1 p.m.), complete a four-game home stand for the Checkers, who suffered their first home loss of the season on Wednesday. They are now 5-1-0 at Bojangles’ Coliseum this season.
