Haydn Fleury is headed back to the AHL as the Hurricanes have assigned the blue liner to Charlotte.

The third-year pro was recalled after Canes blue liner Calvin de Haan suffered an injury to his eye. Fleury appeared in three games during his most recent NHL stint, bringing his season total to 17 games this season.

Fleury now returns to Charlotte, where he has five points (2g, 3a) in 23 games this season. The Checkers host Hartford for a pair of games this weekend.
