The Hurricanes have swung a trade, sending Brody Sutter to Florida in exchange for left wing Connor Brickley.

Brickley joins the organization heading into his third pro season. Selected in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Panthers, the 24-year-old has amassed 76 points (35g, 41a) over 126 AHL games with San Antonio and Portland. After ranking second on the Rampage in scoring as a rookie in 2014-15, Brickley split last season between Portland and Florida, where he made his NHL debut and logged 23 games. Prior to turning pro, the Massachusetts native spent four seasons at the University of Vermont.

Sutter departs with 211 games played with Charlotte, the 10th most in franchise history, as well as ranking 10th in points (83) and 8th in goals (36). Selected in the seventh round of the 2011 draft, the 25-year-old has spent each of his four pro seasons in the Carolina organization, mostly with Charlotte, while logging 12 NHL games over the last two years.

Brickley, who had been assigned to Florida’s AHL affiliate in Springfield, will report directly to Charlotte.
