Brian Gibbons is heading back to the NHL after being recalled by Carolina.

The veteran forward is tied for the Checkers scoring lead and is tied for fifth in the league with eight points (3g, 5a) through the first six games of the AHL season. That includes an offensive outburst last Saturday against Syracuse in which he logged four points and became the fourth player in franchise history to score a power-play goal and a shorthanded goal in the same game.

A veteran of over 600 NHL games, Gibbons now returns to the Canes after logging two games for them earlier this month. Carolina returns to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at home against Chicago, while the Checkers again host the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Saturday for a 6 p.m. puck drop.
