With a shortage of forwards heading into their contest tonight in Raleigh, the Hurricanes have recalled Lucas Wallmark from Charlotte.

Presented by First National Bank
This marks the first NHL recall of the season for the Swedish forward, who has put up 23 points in 20 games for the Checkers thus far and ranks third on the team with 16 helpers. Wallmark appeared in eight games with the Hurricanes last season as a rookie, notching a pair of assists along the way.

A fourth-round selection by Carolina in 2014, Wallmark has totaled 69 points in 87 AHL games over his first two pro seasons in North America, including leading the Checkers in goals in 2016-17.

In addition to losing Wallmark for tonight’s contest in Lehigh Valley, the Checkers could be without leading goal scorer Valentin Zykov, who is sick. To replenish their group of forwards, the Checkers have recalled rookie Steven Lorentz from the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.

The 21-year-old Lorentz, who was picked in the seventh round by Carolina in 2015, leads all Florida rookies in scoring with 13 points in 25 games. This marks the first AHL recall for Lorentz.
