Some roster moves could be in the works as the Hurricanes placed forwards Marcus Kruger and Josh Jooris on waivers Thursday.
Should they clear tomorrow at noon, Carolina could then assign them to the Checkers. If that were to happen, the Hurricanes would have the roster flexibility to make recalls from Charlotte to fill those holes if they choose to do so.
Kruger, 27, has six (1g, 5a) points in 48 games with Carolina this season, while Jooris, also 27, has six points (3g, 3a) in 30 games. Both forwards are in their first seasons with the Hurricanes organization.
