As they head into the All-Star break, the Hurricanes have assigned defenseman Haydn Fleury and goalie Alex Nedeljkovic to Charlotte.

Fleury, who has appeared in 12 NHL games this season, returns to Charlotte where he has three assists and 16 penalty minutes in 11 games. He’ll give Charlotte some depth on the blue line going into a two-game road trip this weekend as Trevor Carrick will be sidelined due to a suspension.

Nedeljkovic, made his first NHL start Wednesday night in Vancouver, stopping 24 of the 26 shots he faced to pick up his first NHL win. The netminder now returns to the AHL where he leads the league in wins and is 8-1-1 in his last 12 appearances.

The Checkers visit Providence on Friday and Hartford on Saturday before heading into the All-Star break, while the Canes are off until Feb. 1.
