Carolina snatched up a prized prospect on Saturday, agreeing to terms with Chase Priskie on a two-year, entry-level deal.
The 23-year-old defenseman was drafted in the sixth round by Washington in 2016 but did not sign with the Capitals, making him a free agent on Aug. 15.
Priskie, a Florida native, recently finished up a four-year career at Quinnipiac where he recorded 116 points (39g, 77a) in 154 games and served as team captain his junior and senior years. His senior season proved to be his most prolific, as he led his team in goals (17) and ranked second in points (39) and was named a Hobey Baker Award finalist.
Over his college career Priskie earned conference postseason accolades each year, earning a spot on the All-Rookie Team in 2015-16, the Third All-Star Team in 2016-17, the Second All-Star Team in 2017-18 and the First All-Star Team in 2018-19. He also helped lead the Bobcats to a conference title and the National Championship game his freshman year.
