The Checkers have trimmed down the goalies on their roster, assigning Callum Booth to the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.

The 21-year-old Booth suited up for a seven-game stretch over February, making one start along the way, and was a healthy extra for both of Charlotte’s wins over Binghamton this past weekend. The netminder is 4-2-0 over 10 appearances with the Checkers this season, sporting a 2.99 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage.

Booth has spent time in the ECHL prior to this assignment but this marks his first time joining Charlotte’s affiliate this season. He has appeared in 16 ECHL games thus far for the Reading Royals, posting a 9-6-1 record with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Booth now returns to Florida, where he spent the majority of his rookie campaign a year ago, logging a 19-6-2 record to go along with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. He replaces Jamie Phillips, who is on an AHL contract with Charlotte and was assigned to the ECHL’s Reading Royals on Thursday.

Additionally, the Checkers have recalled forward Steven Lorentz from Florida. The second-year forward ranks seventh on the Everblades with 28 points despite only logging 22 games thus far. Lorentz comes back to Charlotte where he has put up five points (2g, 3a) in 18 games this season.

The Checkers head into a weekend trip to Lehigh Valley with the goaltending tandem of AHL wins leader Alex Nedeljkovic and veteran Dustin Tokarski, who was acquired from Hartford last week.
