Cleared to return from injury, Eddie Lack is heading to Charlotte for a conditioning assignment.

The 29-year-old netminder has missed 26 of the last 30 games due to a concussion. With his last game action coming on Nov. 10, Lack, who has been practicing with Carolina over the past few weeks, will get a chance to get some playing time under his belt in Charlotte.

Lack spent his first three North American seasons in the AHL with Manitoba and Chicago, boasting a solid 2.38 goals against average over 112 games. The Swedish native also earned AHL All-Rookie Team honors in 2010-11 with the Moose. Since making the jump to the NHL in the 2013-14 season, Lack has logged 121 games over four seasons with Vancouver and Carolina.

The Hurricanes have also assigned Michael Leighton to Charlotte, but only as a paper transaction, meaning the veteran will not join the Checkers. He will, however, be available for Sunday and Monday's AHL All-Star Classic, to which he was selected for the fifth time in his career, in Allentown, PA.

Carolina wrapped up its pre-All Star Game schedule tonight against the Kings and will now enjoy a break until Tuesday’s tilt with Philadelphia. The Checkers host the Manitoba Moose Friday and Saturday before their All-Star break kicks in, lasting until next Friday’s visit to Tucson.
