The 26-year-old Slovakian had been at Carolina’s training camp on a tryout prior to inking an NHL deal.

“Michal has earned this contract through his performance in camp," said Waddell in Carolina’s release. "We feel that adding him helps solidify our organizational depth on defense.”

Cajkovsky spent his last three seasons playing overseas, including ranking third among team blue liners in scoring last season with Yekaterinburg of the KHL.

After a three-year OHL career with Kingston and Ottawa, Cajkovsky played his first two pro seasons in North America from 2013-15, logging 48 points in 91 ECHL games with Reading and South Carolina to go along with 13 AHL appearances and a pair of assists with the Hershey Bears.
