Scott Darling
Less than two weeks after clearing waivers and joining the Checkers, Scott Darling is headed back to the Hurricanes for the time being.

Carolina recalled Darling on Sunday as Curtis McElhinney continues to deal with an injury that kept him out of the team’s last game in Anaheim on Friday. Since beginning his most recent stint with the Checkers on Nov. 30, Darling stared four of a possible five games, going 2-1-0 with a 2.70 goals-against average and .897 save percentage.

The move leaves the Checkers with their usual No. 1 in Alex Nedeljkovic, who is back with the team after backing up Friday’s Hurricanes game, and rookie Jeremy Helvig, who picked up the win in his AHL debut on Saturday after entering the game in relief of Darling after two periods.

Charlotte begins a stretch of six home games in 10 days this Thursday against Hartford at Bojangles’ Coliseum.
