The inaugural Charlotte Checkers 5K Run & Walk, benefiting the Charlotte Checkers Charitable Foundation, will take place the morning of Saturday, Nov. 24. The race will begin at Time Warner Cable Arena and end at College St./Trade St. with a post-race party, presented by Bud Light.
The early-bird cost for registration is $25 and includes a ticket to that night’s Checkers game and a Checkers 5K & Fun Run t-shirt. Participants will also have the opportunity to purchase up to four additional tickets to that night’s Checkers game for just $10 each.
Race media sponsor Clear Channel Media & Entertainment (Channel 96.1, 96.9 The Kat, 99.7 The Fox, 102.9 The Lake and 1065 The End) will be on site to provide music and there will be a free Fun Run for kids, presented by Family Talk. Participants are encouraged to wear hockey-themed attire and prizes will be awarded to the best dressed. Additionally, Chubby and the CheckMates will be on hand to cheer participants on.
