The Checkers' beloved mascot, Chubby, will rappel “Over the Edge” for Special Olympics North Carolina on Friday, Oct. 12, at The VUE Charlotte on 5th. In order to make his 35-story descent, Chubby has a fundraising goal of $2,000.
“I am very excited to help my friends at Special Olympics North Carolina,” stated Chubby via Twitter direct message. “Skydiving erased my fear of heights, so rappelling for charity was an easy decision.”
This year’s overall goal for “Over the Edge” in Charlotte is $100,000 raised and 80 people to rappel. At last year’s event, $81,000 was raised by 71 participants. The public “Over the Edge” event will take place at The VUE Charlotte on 5th on Saturday, Oct. 13. For more information or to register to rappel, visit www.overtheedgenc.com.
