The Checkers' annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place Friday, Dec. 7, when the team hosts the Lake Erie Monsters. Bring a like-new, wrapped in plastic teddy bear or stuffed animal and receive a free ticket to the Dec. 20 game, courtesy of Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital.
The teddy bears and stuffed animals will be thrown onto the ice after the first Checkers goal and then collected and delivered to Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital during the holidays.
As an added bonus, those who bring a stuffed animal to Bar Cocoa (located in the Ritz Carlton in Uptown Charlotte) between now and Dec. 17 will receive a buy-one-get-one-free gingerbread cookie and a free ticket to the Dec. 20 Checkers game.
Each year, approximately 3,000 children spend time at Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital and last year more than 3,200 stuffed animals were collected. For more information on Presbyterian Hospital, visit www.presbyterian.org.
