LAKE ERIE ASSIGNS BRADFORD, MARSHALL

CHARLOTTE, NC—Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that rookie forwards Brock Bradford and David Marshall have been assigned to the team by the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

Bradford, 23, has nine goals and 11 assists in 54 games with the Monsters this season, including a two-goal, +4 performance in a 6-2 win over Grand Rapids on Dec. 1.

The native of Burnaby, British Columbia spent the last four seasons with Boston College. He helped the Terriers to the 2007 NCAA Frozen Four championship game where they were defeated by Michigan State, featuring current Checkers Chris Snavely, Ethan Graham and Matt Schepke.

In 2008-09, Bradford led Boston College with 25 goals and 42 points, while serving as team captain. He captured Hockey East Player of the Month honors in November and was voted to the All-Conference Second Team. Bradford was also named Boston College’s Most Valuable Player. He was a seventh-round pick of the Boston Bruins in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Marshall returns to Charlotte after appearing in one game with Lake Erie. He is currently on a four-game point streak with the Checkers (4g, 3a) and notched a hat trick in a 5-4 win over Gwinnett on Mar 11.

The 25-year-old winger has 19 goals and eight assists in 48 games with Charlotte this season, his first as a professional. He began the season in Lake Erie, where he tallied two goals and an assist in 14 games before being re-assigned to Charlotte.
