CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Forward Jon Matsumoto has been re-assigned to the Checkers from the Carolina Hurricanes following a 10-game NHL stint, the teams announced today.
Matsumoto, 24, recorded two goals in 10 games with the Hurricanes after being recalled on Oct. 31. Prior to his recall, Matsumoto led the Checkers with nine points (3g, 6a) in 10 games.
The Ottawa, Ontario native was acquired by Carolina on June 26 from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Matsumoto is expected to join the Checkers this weekend for a pair of games in Worcester and Hershey.
