CHARLOTTE, NC—The Charlotte Checkers earned three out of a possible four points over the weekend versus Gwinnett. Former ECHL All-Star Tyler Doig registered his 100th point as a professional and Michel Leveille continued his exceptional play, adding four points (2g, 2a). Leveille now has points in all five Checkers games this season and is among the league leaders in several categories.

The team will now enjoy a lengthy homestand with eight of the next nine contests being played at Time Warner Cable Arena. First up will be the Florida Everblades who will visit uptown Charlotte for two games on Wednesday and Thursday.
 
WEEK IN REVIEW

Oct. 30 @ Gwinnett (W 6-5, SO)
Leveille continued his hot start with his fouth multipoint game (1g, 2a) to start the season. The Checkers took a 5-3 lead into the third period and the Gladiators responded back to send to the game to overtime. After a scoreless overtime the teams entered into a shootout. Kenny Roche, Michel Leveille and Tyler Doig all scored in the shootout and Zaba shut the door as the team improved to 3-1-0 to start the season.

Nov. 1 vs Gwinnett (L 4-3, OT)
A common occurrence lately, Michel Leveille scored five minutes into the contest for his sixth of the season. Tyler Doig picked up his 100th point as a pro and Billy Sauer stopped 33 of 37 shots in a losing cause for the Checkers. Gwinnett capitalized on four power plays, including the game-winner, and killed off all nine penalties.

PLAYER NOTES:
Michel Leveille now has a five-game point streak (6g, 4a), has points on 10 of the Checkers’ 18 goals overall and has six first-period points…Leveille is tied for 12th in ECHL scoring, tied for second in points per game (2.00) and ranks second in even-strength scoring …Tyler Doig, Leveille and Jared Nightingale all share the team lead with +5 ratings…Derek Couture remains on loan to Hartford, defenseman Kevin Schaeffer  and forward Matt Ford remain on loan to Lake Erie (AHL)…Ryan Garlock, Matt Zaba and Chris Chappell were all recalled to Hartford Saturday, while Ryan Hillier was returned.

• Aaron Slattengren currently has 99 career ECHL points (100gp, 56g, 43a)
• Head Coach Derek Wilkinson (197-162-17-18) needs three more wins for 200 career coaching victories

TEAM NOTES:
The Checkers have allowed six power-play goals in the two games…Charlotte is 3-1-0 on the road in the early season and have scored power-play goals in 4 of 5 games…
