CHARLOTTE, NC—The Charlotte Checkers played an interesting three games last week, including a shootout thriller, a fight-filled loss and a comeback that fell a bit short. The team went 1-2-0 on the week and will play at home for 5 of the next 6 games, four being against out-of-division opponents.
 
WEEK IN REVIEW

Nov. 4 vs Florida (W 4-3, SO)
Rookie Matt Schepke scored his first two goals of the season and Billy Sauer stopped 39 of 42 shots for the win. The teams traded goals all game long and prepared for shootout after a scoreless overtime. The shootout went 11 rounds with defenseman Julien Brouillette scoring the winner. Neither team could capitalize on the power play in 15 combined attempts.

Nov. 5 vs Florida (L 7-0)
The Checkers allowed three quick second period goals and weren’t able to bounce back as they were handed their second loss in regulation. Everblades forward Jacob Micflikier led the way offensively with three goals and three assists and goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped all 28 shots he faced for the shutout. Micflikier now has nine points in the last two games

Nov. 8 vs Kalamazoo (L 5-4)
Kalamazoo jumped ahead to a four-goal lead and the Checkers mounted a late comeback, scoring 3 goals in 3 minutes, but it wasn’t enough as they fell short 5-4. Charlotte outshot Kalamazoo 49-22 but Wings goaltender Jeremy Duchesne made several key saves for the victory.

PLAYER NOTES:
Jared Nightingale leads all ECHL defensemen with 41 penalty minutes…Michel Leveille leads the team in scoring with 11 pts (6g, 5a) in 8 games…Leveille and Kenny Roche share the league lead with two shootout goals each…Julien Brouillette and Jared Nightingale share the team lead with +4 ratings…Derek Couture remains on loan to Hartford, Ford remains with Lake Erie (AHL) and defenseman Ethan Graham is with Norfolk (AHL)…Ryan Munce, Trevor Glass and Randy Rowe are all on the 21-day injured reserve.

UPCOMING MILESTONES:
• Aaron Slattengren currently has 99 career ECHL points (100gp, 56g, 43a)
• Head Coach Derek Wilkinson (197-162-17-18) needs three more wins for 200 career coaching victories

TEAM NOTES:
Charlotte is 3-1-0 on the road this season…the Checkers lead the league in shootout percentage (.500) with 7 goals on 14 shots and are second in shots per game (36.00)…the team has scored one power-play goal in their last 38 attempts.
