The Checkers' seventh annual Pink in the Rink is Saturday, Feb. 9. The goal of the evening is to raise awareness and funds for the fight against women's related cancers, specifically breast cancer.The beneficiaries of the night are Carolina Breast Friends, Go Jen Go, Presbyterian Hospital's Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center and Cindy's Hope Chest.
The players will wear specialty pink jerseys that will be up for auction after the game to benefit the above-mentioned charities. In addition, there will be a pink scarf giveaway and an honoring of breast cancer survivors.
The Presbyterian Breast Center Mobile Mammography Unit, a 38-ft. multi-functional coach that offers cutting-edge screening mammography services, will be on site along with the Charlotte Fire Department's “The Pink Lady” fire truck.
