Brent’s Band Aids Collection Night – March 19th

Maersk is joining with the Charlotte Checkers and the Charlotte Hockey Officials Association to support the Brent’s Band Aids Project, to collect cartoon character bandages for donation to Presbyterian Hemby Children’s Hospital.  The project was started by 7-year old Brent Swaltek, who was diagnosed with leukemia in July of 2009. After a procedure, Brent asked for a Sponge Bob band aid but the hospital did not have one, nurses searched the unit and were finally able to locate a Scooby Doo instead.  Afterward, Brent said to his parents “wouldn't it be neat if all the kids here could have cool band aids like Sponge Bob” and the project was born. To date, this effort has collected over 2,000 boxes of band aids for the hospitals in western Pennsylvania.  Please support this effort on Friday, March 19th as the Checkers take on the Trenton Devils at 7 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena.  By bringing a minimum of two boxes of character band aids to the game, fans will receive a complimentary ticket to the Sunday, March 28th game courtesy of Presbyterian Hospital and the Charlotte Checkers.
