Biography
Signed with the Hurricanes as an undrafted free agent following the conclusion of his junior season at Union College (ECAC)
Completed his college career with 53 goals and 47 assists (100 points) in 119 games, helping Union reach its first Frozen Four in school history in 2012.
2011-12
Appeared in his first NHL season with Carolina, playing in one game after signing as a free agent at the conclusion of his college season... Made his NHL debut at FLA (4/7), totaling four penalty minutes in 16:32 of ice time.
College
Recorded 27 goals, 17 assists (44 points) and 47 penalty minutes in 40 games for Union College (ECAC Hockey) in 2011-12, ranking first on the team and fourth in the NCAA in goals (27)... His 27 goals were a school record... Was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for March, Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC Championship and Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA East Regional in Bridgeport, CT... Also received the William A. Pike Award, presented to a Union College junior male athlete for attitude, ability, participation and achievement in intercollegiate sports
Had nine points (5g, 4a) in eight postseason games for the Dutchmen, including a five-game goal-scoring streak to lead Union to its first ECAC Hockey Championship and first Frozen Four berth in school history.... In 2010-11, was second among Union skaters in goals (16) and points (37), earning ECAC Hockey Third Team honors during his sophomore season
Netted eight power-play goals, playing a key role on Union's nation-leading power play (29.5%)
Named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on 10/19
Was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on 10/12/09.
Junior
Served as team captain for the Oakville Blades of the Ontario Junior Hockey League in 2008-09, totaling 36 goals and 47 assists (83 points) in 49 games played

Was third in the league in playoff scoring with 34 points (17g, 17a) in 28 games
In 2007-08, scored 17 goals and had 35 assists (52 points) in 48 games for the Oakville Blades (OPJHL)
