With just six games remaining on their schedule, the Checkers have released center Sean Dolan from his PTO.

Dolan, 27, joined a shorthanded Checkers team on March 3 and logged 12 games with the club. Despite not recording a point during his AHL stint, Dolan filled an important fourth-line role for Charlotte.

The former Wisconsin Badger has spent part of each of his four professional seasons with the Checkers. In 154 games for Charlotte, Dolan has accumulated 31 points (14g, 17a) and 93 penalty minutes. The center ranks 12th on the Checkers' all-time games played list.

Dolan will now return to the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL as they prepare to begin their playoff run. After suffering an early injury, Dolan has missed most of the Stingrays' season thus far, appearing in just five games, but has produced three points (2g, 1a).

The Checkers currently find themselves as healthy as they have been all season up front. Without Dolan, they are still carrying 13 forwards, meaning there will continue to be a healthy extra going forward. Alex Aleardi has found himself as the odd-man out for the last three contests.
