Sean Dolan
Having lost some longtime Checkers to the NHL in recent weeks, the team brought another one back into the fold on Tuesday.

Sean Dolan, who played 142 games for the club over three seasons between 2012 and 2014, is back on Charlotte on a professional tryout contract. He joins from the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays, which was also true of his initial signing with Charlotte back on Jan. 6, 2012.

Dolan, a 27-year-old center, has missed the majority of the season due an injury suffered in South Carolina’s training camp. He made his season debut on Feb. 21 and has scored two points, both goals, in five games.

The native of St. Louis, MO, is expected to play in Wednesday’s home game against San Antonio in place of Brock McGinn, who received a one-game charging suspension from the AHL on Tuesday.

Dolan (6’3”, 199 lbs.) totaled 31 points (14g, 17a) and 89 penalty minutes during his previous tenure with the Checkers. Following his initial PTO in 2011-12, he earned a standard AHL contract for the rest of that season and for the following two campaigns before leaving the team as a free agent last summer.
