The Checkers are getting back some reinforcements as Carolina has assigned Derek Ryan and Brock McGinn to Charlotte.

Ryan, Charlotte’s captain, returns after making his NHL debut last Tuesday. At 29, Ryan became the oldest player in franchise history to score a goal in his first NHL game, notching a power-play tally against the New Jersey Devils. He also suited up for yesterday’s tilt in Tampa Bay.

McGinn continues to bounce between the AHL and NHL in his second pro season. The forward went scoreless in his 20th and 21st games of the season for the Hurricanes.

The forwards, who rank first and second on the team in goals, provide a big boost for the Checkers as they work their way through an important home stand. In the last two games without Ryan and McGinn, Charlotte has mustered just one goal and gone 0-for-10 on the man advantage, an area that the duo have excelled in this season.
