Another step to the start of the 2017-18 season is in the books as the Checkers announced today the slate of promo nights for the upcoming campaign.

The entire promo schedule can be viewed here, but let’s take a look at some of the highlights from this year’s star-studded slew of unique deals and themes.

Keep an eye out for updates and additions to the promo schedule as the season grows closer as well!

OPENING WEEKEND

On top of the huge Buy One Get One Free offer on group outings, Opening Weekend has even more to offer. Novant Health will be giving out schedule magnets at both games, while Saturday’s matchup against Bridgeport will feature a Kids Jersey giveaway.

NEW ADDITIONS

One of the biggest additions that will jump out on this year’s promo schedule is the Husqvarna Homegrown Series. Modeled after the success of last season’s Locals Day, the Homegrown Series will feature locally-inspired food and merchandise from the best our community has to offer. More info and aspects on the Homegrown Series will be released soon.

The 17-18 campaign also brings several new theme nights. World Travel Mates is bringing a taste of summer to Bojangles’ Coliseum in December with Beach Night, complete with a sunglasses giveaway. Then there’s Health and Wellness Night presented by Charlotte Athletic Club in January, followed by the highly anticipated Wrestling Night in March. Finally, we’ll be celebrating hockey’s history in Charlotte by welcoming former Checkers players from the 1960s and 70s to Alumni Night on March 18.

RETURNING CLASSICS

It wouldn’t be our promo schedule without those yearly staples. We’ll see you Nov. 26 for the annual Teddy Bear Toss benefitting Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital, then a few weeks later to celebrate the release of Episode 8 at Star Wars Night on Dec. 16. The whole family can get in on Social Media Night, which falls two days after Thanksgiving, while yearly favorite NASCAR Night speeds into town on Jan. 13. To wrap things up, our favorite furry fans will take over the final home weekend of the regular season, with Caturday landing on April 7 and the Pooch Pawty taking place one day later.

SAVE THAT MONEY

You and your squad can rejoice as Family Day is back once again, presented by Fairfield Inn and Suites. For six different games throughout the season, groups of four can save $45 (40 percent) when purchasing tickets online. In addition, the Checkers’ seven Wednesday contests will feature some of the best deals available. Each instance will be a College Night presented by Hendrick Acura, meaning students with valid college email addresses can get $15 tickets. Those Winning Wednesdays, presented by Farm Bureau, will also feature $1 Bud Light and all fans in attendance will get a free ticket to the next Wednesday game if Charlotte wins.

NEW THREADS

The Checkers will don specialty jerseys at least three times this season. One will be for our annual Pink In The Rink game on Feb. 17, with the postgame live auction benefitting various breast cancer charities. The others will be to celebrate a special St. Patrick’s Day matchup with Binghamton and to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness night, with both the green and purple sweaters being auctioned off following the contests.

On top of those specialty jerseys, Locals Night will be making a return on April 7, with Glory Days Apparel bringing in some exclusive new Checkers merch.

GET INVOLVED

Fans will have three chances to take the Bojangles’ Coliseum this season with their favorite players thanks to Novant Health’s Postgame Skates. Also returning are the Hockey and Heels event in early February and Slap Shot Saturdays, where fans can stick around after that night’s game to take a shot on the ice.
