Ahead of their season finale against Florida tomorrow, the Hurricanes have recalled forward Brendan Woods from Charlotte.

The 23-year-old returns to Carolina with four NHL games under his belt this season, bringing his career total to six. Woods, who had his first NHL fight earlier this year, is still looking for his first NHL point.

Woods, who took on a new, more defensive-minded role this season, has been a key piece for the Checkers this season. The third-year pro has put up 20 points so far in Charlotte (9g, 11a), including four points in his last six games with the club.

Patrick Brown’s return to Charlotte this morning cancels out the loss of Woods in terms of players on the roster, though the Checkers could be short one forward heading into this weekend’s series should Derek Ryan be forced to miss games due to an injury he suffered last night against Montreal.
