Charlotte Checkers Hornets Night
The Charlotte Checkers’ first-ever Hornets Night on Nov. 29 raised more than $21,000 for the Checkers Charitable Foundation and Charlotte Hornets Foundation.

The bulk of the total came from auctions of the limited-edition jerseys that the Checkers wore for their game against the Milwaukee Admirals. Fans bid on the first round immediately following the game, with the players on hand to personally deliver their jerseys to the winners. A second round of the only nine remaining jerseys took place online the following week.

Additional funds came from the sale of autographed Hornets Night pucks and other commemorative merchandise, some of which is still available at the Checkers’ Bears Den locations at their EpiCentre offices, at Time Warner Cable Arena and online. Proceeds will continue to benefit the teams' foundations.
