Following their final preseason game, the Hurricanes made another round of cuts today.

Forwards Patrick Brown and Brock McGinn have been assigned to Charlotte, while Derek Ryan has been placed on waivers and will join the Checkers tomorrow at noon should he clear.

Brown and McGinn return for their third pro seasons after each setting career highs in points last year. Both forwards spent time in the NHL last season as well, with McGinn logging 21 games with the Hurricanes.

Should he pass through waivers, Ryan would be back in Charlotte for a second season after serving as team captain and leading the team in scoring in 2015-16.

The Checkers will face Lehigh Valley tonight at 7 p.m. for their preseason finale, one night after drubbing the Phantoms 6-1. Charlotte’s regular season kicks off next weekend with a two-game road trip to Texas.

UPDATE: Ryan cleared waivers and officially joined the Checkers at noon on Sunday. The Checkers' preseason schedule concluded with a 5-2 defeat at Lehigh Valley on Saturday.
